Notes Client
Macintosh OS 10.4 support
Notes 6.5.5 adds support for the Lotus Notes Client running on Macintosh OS 10.4.
Click-to-Call
Click-to-call is a feature that allows third-party vendors to build host services based on IBM Lotus Sametime 7.0 Windows Telephony Toolkit. With Click-to-call, Notes Instant Messaging users can call into a phone system/conference call with one click in the Notes client. This feature is enabled via the Notes.INI setting "Click2DialEnabled =1". The feature is turned off by default.
'German (Standard)' changed to 'German (Pre-reform)'
The locale setting "German (Standard)" has been changed to "German (Pre-reform)"; the default setting for the German locale is now "German (Reform)".
Domino Web Access
Calendar print (PDF) support for Arabic and Hebrew
Calendar print support to PDF, for Arabic and Hebrew characters, has been added in this release.
Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook
To take advantage of the new features in 6.5.5, users should recreate their profiles after upgrading to Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook (DAMO) 6.5.5. For more information, see the release note "Upgrading to DAMO 6.5.5 requires a new profile".
Support for Outlook 2003 personal folders (.pst) file size and format
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 has both a different format and a larger overall size limit for the personal folder (.pst) files than in earlier versions of Microsoft Outlook. In Outlook 2002 and earlier, the .pst files are in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format, and the overall size has a limit of 2 gigabytes (GB).
In Outlook 2003, .pst files are in the UNICODE format by default, and the overall size of the .pst files has a limit that is more than 20 GB. Outlook 2003 supports both the UNICODE and the ANSI formats, but versions of Outlook that are earlier than Outlook 2003 do not support the UNICODE format, and have a smaller size limit.
Mail Rule support
DAMO 6.5.5 now supports the use of Local Mail Rules for Incoming mail in the Outlook client. With previous releases of DAMO Mail Rules were only available by way of the "Run Now" option in the Rules dialog. With the DAMO 6.5.5 implementation Mail Rules will now run automatically on mail messages as they are received in the Inbox. Basically, DAMO now supports the standard Outlook Mail Rule implementation for Incoming messages. In Outlook 2000 and Outlook XP Rules are created by using the 'Rules Wizard' dialog under the Tools menu, and in Outlook 2003 Rules are created using the 'Rules and Alerts' dialog under the Tools menu. For more information on creating and managing Mail Rules see Microsoft Office Outlook Help.
Alternate Name support
The ability for users to display Alternate Names in their client is supported.
Silent Install capability
New flags allow for multi-user install and insertion of Notes.ini parameters:
-u John Simpson -s 9.22.35.119 -f C:\IDs\JohnSimpson.id -p password -i STX9=1 -i REPL_PST_DEBUG=1 -i console_log_enabled=1 -d c:\DAMOData\John Simpson
Where the "-i" parameter can be any value that will be inserted into the user's Notes.ini file. In this case "STX9=1" indicated that the administrator wants to see a console running to display real-time DAMO activity. "REPL_PST_DEBUG=1" is the most verbose of DAMO's debugging capabilities. "CONSOLE_LOG_ENABLED=1" will cause all debugging data to be captured in a console.log in the IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT folder in the user's data directory.
The "-d" parameter indicates a multi-user install, and that this user's data directory will be "c:\DAMOData\John Simpson"
Creating Connection documents
By default, DAMO is able to create a Connection Doc by entering an IP address in the Preferred Server field if the machine is listening on 1352 (running Domino server). To access the Preferred Server field in Outlook, Tools -> Options -> Domino Preferences -> Replication.
Local Archiving support
DAMO 6.5.5 allows local archiving using the native Outlook archiving functionality. When items are archived or otherwise moved to another *.pst file in Outlook, DAMO will also remove these items from the server mailfile. In order for these deletions to happen, the *.pst file that the archive movements go to must be open in the Outlook folder list (and will require a restart of Outlook after it is added). Deleting items on archive will NOT remove the corresponding items from the server mailstore.
Domino Server
'NSFBringDatabaseOnline' API function has been enhanced
Added option to The NSFBringDatabaseOnline API function now has an additional option to allow a change to the DBIID or ReplicaID when bringing a database online. This allows third-party API developers to leverage this option, in order to bring databases online without impacting existing database replicas.
'Rename' Administration Process request changed to improve performance
The Administration Process (AdminP) "Rename" request has been split into two sub-requests internally -- one to find names in the database ACL, and one to find the name in design elements of the database. This dramatically improves the performance of this AdminP request.
New Button in the Person Document "Edit Password" (HTTP Password)
This is only for Input Validation of the new Password
Domino for i5/OS
NSD - Server task call stack captured
A change has been made that allow all server task call stacks to be dumped to the NSD.
Domino for z/OS
Lotus SNMP Agent support
Support for the Lotus SNMP Agent on z/OS is introduced in Domino 6.5.5.
